Information about Place Royale du Peyrou
The Promenade de Perot, located at the highest part of Montpellier and west of the old walls, was designed during the reign of Louis XIV, but due to the turmoil at the beginning of the eighteenth century, it was not completed until the middle of the eighteenth century. There are many interesting details in this place, such as: the statue of King Louis XIV dating back to 1828, replacing an earlier version that was melted down to make cannons used in wars, and he is sitting on horseback with his arm out towards Spain. In addition to the presence of the water tower dating back to the eighteenth century, which is a huge water tower fed by the 14-kilometer "San Clement" aqueduct. It is a beautiful and different place worth visiting.
