The Royal Pidurangala Cave Temple is an ancient Buddhist temple located in the town of Dambulla. It was built on the famous huge rock called Pidurangala, located a few kilometers north of the historical Sigiriya fortress. It is believed that the history of this temple dates back to after the 1st and 2nd century BC. The rock was at that time a Buddhist monastery, and the temple inside has amazing designs that reflect Buddhist, Hindu and Western influences.
