The Duomo Square, or as it means "Cathedral Square", is the beating heart of the city of Trento, as it houses the Cathedral of San Vigilio, and is surrounded by a group of monuments and prominent historical monuments, including the Pretorio Palace, which strengthened the square's position as an archaeological tourist place in the city. The square is considered one of the most lively places in the city, teeming with tourists permanently due to the shops, restaurants and tourist facilities surrounding it as well. With regard to the history of this square, it was built in the medieval period, and at that time it was considered the main home for the civil and religious administration of the city.
