The Oltenia Museum of Natural Sciences was opened on December 2, 1923 under the name "Craiova Museum of Natural History" by members of the Craiova Scientific Department led by Professor of Natural Sciences Marin Demetrescu, and in 1928 became a part of the Oltenia Regional Museum, housing the main excavation exhibition The Oltenia-Terra Fossils, which is organized on the ground floor of the building, also includes the permanent exhibition “The Universe and the Solar System” and a planetarium on the second floor of the building.
