The National Museum of Norwegian Maritime History from the Viking Age to the Present. The museum contains six galleries divided over four floors. It covers a wide range of maritime topics, such as the technical conventions for the carriage of "ship", the life and fate of seafarers throughout history at sea. It also contains pieces by famous artists such as Christian Krohg, Hans Gude and Axel Revold. Marine paintings have long played an important role in the Norwegian artistic community. A selection of a unique collection of traditional Norwegian boats is displayed in the central hall.
