Information about Neuer Platz
Neuer Platz or Town Square was known by various names during the time, as it was called Franz Josef Platz, Wolfusplatz, and Adolf-Hitler-Platz. It is the direct square in front of the town hall in the center of Klagenfurt. It was redesigned in 2008, according to plans drawn up by the famous architect Boris Bodrica, and transformed into a modern city square that attracts many local visitors and tourists. At its heart is a distinctive statue, a dragon-like creature and the Klagenfurt emblem, as well as a statue of Hercules. To the east side, there is a monument to Maria Theresia. Visit this square and enjoy the perfect time in the fresh air and in the historical ambiance.
