Legend has it that in the past there was a dragon wreaking corruption in Klagenfurt, so a bounty was set for his killing; In 1335 a dragon skull - which 19th century zoologists classified as belonging to a woolly rhinoceros from the Ice Age - was found in a nearby quarry known as the Dragon's Tomb; The sculpture was made based on this story and then the fountain was added in 1624; It is a beautiful tourist attraction to wander near and contemplate its wonderful details.
