The National Library and Art Gallery was established in 1999 by the Government of the Maldives to collect past and present Maldivian art with the aim of forming a permanent art collection, to organize shows and exhibitions of both Maldivian and international art on a regular basis, and to provide opportunities for Maldivian artists to develop and excel in their professions, by facilitating Educational and networking opportunities.
