The National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona gives you an insight into the Roman city through its architecture, sculptures, and tools used in the daily lives of the citizens of ancient Tarraco, the capital of Spain's most important Roman province. This museum is the oldest archaeological museum in Catalonia; It was founded during the first half of the nineteenth century with collections dating back to the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, although the bulk of the collection comes from excavations carried out in the last 150 years, as a result of modern port construction and the exceptional urban growth of the city.
