Tarragona Museum of Modern Art was established by Tarragona Provincial Council in 1976 to promote the study and knowledge of modern and contemporary art and to preserve, exhibit and share artistic heritage with the people. To this end, a museum has been established in the old quarter of Tarragona with a library, documentation center and photographic archive. The building that houses the museum consists of the joining of three houses from the eighteenth century. The museum houses many works of art, including drawings and sculptures by European artists.
