The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Algiers, known as Mama, is one of the most beautiful cultural achievements since Algeria's independence. It was inaugurated on December 1, 2007 by Mrs. Khaleda Toumi, Minister of Culture, on the occasion of being "Algeria the Capital of Arab Culture". Built between 1901 and 1909, this imposing five-storey building is one of the jewels of neo-Moorish architecture. This magnificent museum is located in the heart of the capital, Algiers, on Larbi Ben M'hidi commercial street . The Museum assumes the responsibility of preserving, restoring, studying, enriching, protecting the art collections and making them available to the public
