The Museum of Mineralogy of the University of Strasbourg is housed in a building from the former Imperial University that has been erected by William II since 1890. Today the museum displays 30,000 types of minerals from all over the world as well as several thousand other exhibits such as scientific instruments, educational materials and more. The collection in the Museum dates back to the time of major discoveries in the field of mineralogy and crystallography in the nineteenth century, and this historical collection is a reference in France, as it is unique and not found elsewhere.
