Founded in 1912, the Namur African Museum is a surprisingly rich cultural institution, run by a not-for-profit organization that aims to give value to the links established between Belgium and Africa.The museum is housed in the guardhouse of the former Leopold Barracks, and is the only museum of its kind in the city of Namur . Namur, presents documents and memorabilia relating to the Belgian presence in Central Africa, especially in the Congo. The library of 20,000 books covers the history, geography, zoology, geology, ethnography and economics of the African people.
