One of the main centers of Benedictine Order in Portugal between the twelfth and fourteenth centuries, the Monastery of Santo Andrés de Rendov, dating from before 1090 to the time of Conde Dom Henrique, is located among a group of picturesque vineyards, accessed via An imposing courtyard surrounds the Baroque facade of the church and monastery complex to the south, and although the monastery is now in ruins, it has preserved its original architectural form and splendid arches.
