Minsk City of Heroes Obelisk is a 45-meter-high monument in the form of a standing tower located on Victors Street in Minsk. The obelisk was dedicated to the Declaration of Minsk City of Heroes 1974 AD, for the courage of its people during the Nazi occupation, which lasted for 1,100 days. The obelisk was opened in 1985 to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. Currently, the obelisk is part of the large complex of the Museum of the Great Belarusian Patriotic War, and in the lower part visitors can see an engraved text describing Minsk's nickname "City of Heroes". Military parades and parades are held on the main national holiday - Independence Day - near the Obelisk of the Heroes of Minsk.
