The mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba was built in 1960 in Monastir; The birthplace of Habib Bourguiba, the first president of the Republic of Tunisia, in the western part of the main city cemetery. The building consists of a central area topped by a golden dome surrounded by two areas topped by green domes and double minarets 25 meters high, and can be accessed through a walkway of 200 meters in length and width 30 meters and at the end of it stands a large gate, and Habib Bourguiba’s resting place can be found in the middle of a large circular room surrounded by corridors, with a huge crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The tombs of the president's close family members, which feature simple marble slabs set on the floor with reliefs on the wall.
