One of Turkey's oldest Protestant churches, Mardin Church, has reopened after a 60-year absence, in a sign of the country's Christian community recovery. The church has a great historical and religious importance, as it is the oldest church in Turkey and in the Middle East in general. It is characterized by a traditional building with huge stones and organized arches that adorn the entrance and the inner courtyards. The church also includes an external courtyard in which prayers and religious ceremonies are held.
