Mar Saba Church was built in the village of Al-Aqoura in the Middle Ages. It is a Crusader church dating back to 1262AD. It was designed in the Roman, rustic, and military style with very large walls, large columns and narrow windows for archers. The church is distinguished by its frescoes, which were renovated in 2014 by the Association for the Restoration and Study of Medieval Wall Paintings in Lebanon (AREFML). On the northern wall there are the Dormition of the Virgin and Syriac inscriptions, while on the southern wall are the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.
