The “Opera” building was built at the beginning of the twentieth century by the architect “Ainaz”, and it entered into activity since 1907, as it was considered among the municipality’s property until 1963, when it was transformed under the decision to nationalize the institutions into the property of the state. Since 1967, the Oran Theater has been transformed into the National Theater of the Algerian West, then in 1971 it bore the name of the Algerian National Theater of the West, and its leaders waited until 1972 to witness an actual and radical shift in the history of the Oran Theater, so that this year witnessed the birth of the Oran Regional Theater, which enjoys the independence Completely in the financial and technical fields. Since that date, the regional theater of Oran has not stopped contributing to advancing artistic creativity at the regional and national levels. The regional theater of Oran opens its doors every day of the week to various segments of society, including children and adults. Friday and Tuesday are dedicated to the Children’s Theatre, while the remaining days are for adults-only activities such as theater and concerts, as well as literary and poetry evenings.
