Al-Hosn Castle is a Crusader castle located in the Syrian city of Tartus. It is considered one of the most important castles and fortresses in the Middle Ages, as it was inhabited by the Kurds in the eleventh century who came to protect the trade lines and that is why it was known as the Kurdish Castle. When the castle was given to the knights of the hospital in the nineteenth century, they named it Castle. The castle is distinguished by its distinctive construction, high walls, military engineering, strong fortifications, a series of prominent balconies, arches, and a distinguished location, as it stands on a volcanic plateau on a series of steep mountains on its three sides, in a strategic and distinct location at the crossroads of the trade and military routes for convoys between Homs, Tripoli and Tartus.
