The Koimesis Church is one of the most important monuments of tourist interest in Iznik, which attracts large numbers of tourists wishing to explore the rest of it. The church is located in the area that formerly formed the Christian quarter of the city, but the bulk of its landmarks have disappeared, including this church, which was destroyed by the Greeks when they occupied Turkey in the early twentieth century.
