Information about Khan of the Pillars
Khan al-Amdan is considered one of the prominent archaeological monuments at the present time in Acre. In the old days, it was a khan for merchants who unload their goods there. It was close to the port, which made it used for international trade, where merchants unload their goods there as soon as they arrived at the port in special warehouses. This khan was built by Ahmed Pasha al-Jazzar at the end of the eighteenth century AD. As for the construction, it is a rectangular building based on a series of flint columns and includes a large yard. This yard is now open to visitors throughout the day.
