The Ant Island, also known as the Basira Island, is located on the coast of the city of Tartus, about three kilometers from its shore, and is located north of the historic Arwad Island. The area of the island is estimated at 2000 square meters, and there are rocks and rocky components, in addition to salt ponds. Al-Naml Island is considered one of the favorite tourist destinations for many of the people of Tartous, and the various nearby Syrian governorates, whether to practice swimming and fishing or even for therapeutic reasons. Many people head to the island through a small port in the Basira tourist area, located north of Tartus.
