The Jameh Mosque in Delhi is the largest of its kind in India with a courtyard that can accommodate 25,000 worshippers. Its construction began in 1644 and ended up being the last architectural achievement of Shah Jahan; The Mughal emperor who built the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort. The majestic mosque has three large gates, four towers and two 40-meter-high minarets built of red sandstone and white marble. Tourists can rent robes at the northern gate so they can visit its inner courtyards.
