Located within a nature reserve north of the Dan River, Mount Huoyan is famous for its peculiar views of steep bare hills and evergreen forests. Huoyan Natural Mountain has an interesting geological history, as its structure was shaped by dramatic formation movements, and is mainly composed of conglomerate layers and sandstone layers of very weak cohesion. Natural forces such as wind and rain eroded these mountains, cutting off large parts of them and creating jagged peaks, cliffs, and rock-scattered valleys. The mountain offers a stunning view of the city of Taichung with its sea, river and green areas, and the climbing experience is very beautiful, as its paths are open and smooth, and the nature is not rugged.
