Information about Gümüştepe
Gumustepe, formerly known as Messi Village, is a historic Greek settlement on the Orhaneli Road, built on a sloping land surrounded by four forested hills, 12 km from the center of Bursa, into which the Nilufer Stream flows. The village is famous for its vine leaves, cats, molasses, and wine, and for sericulture on a large scale, which made the village’s silk thread product an important economic return for Bursa. It includes structures dating back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and was declared a protected area in 1989.
