Information about Diocesan Museum
The Diocesan Museum is one of the most famous museums in Ancona. It was established in 1834 AD next to Ancona Cathedral. It contains inside it a valuable collection of pieces and archaeological discoveries, as well as many different works of art, including paintings, drawings, and various sculptures. It also houses a selection of ancient artifacts that were found during the restoration of the cathedral, such as writing tablets, tombstones and sarcophagi. The museum holds a permanent art exhibition displaying a group of paintings dating back to the fourteenth and nineteenth centuries AD. It also preserves a collection of coins, medals, and ancient silver tools from the Roman and Middle Ages.
