An important stop for any visitor interested in this area's past, the Maramures Provincial Museum of History and Archeology in Baia Mare is located in the former Treasury, a beautiful 18th century Baroque architectural monument. The fourteenth to the twentieth century, and the collection of this section consists of about 28,000 pieces that are displayed based on the chronology of local and regional events, and the museum also includes the treasury room, the watch room, and those dedicated to mining. The collection has been enriched by over a century of archaeological work and discoveries, and displays iron tools, gold bracelets, other jewellery, coins and many other valuable items.
