Sitania Santa Luzia is an Iron Age and Roman fortified settlement, known locally as the "Old City". They not only dominate large areas of the coastal area along the banks of the river, but they have also managed to control the entrances and exits to the mouth of the Lima River, which in classical antiquity were navigable in most of their courses.
