Acre Prison Castle is one of the most famous monuments in the city. It is a historical building built by Ahmed Pasha Al-Jazzar. This castle was used as a central prison at the time of the British Mandate over Palestine. There were also death sentences for Palestinian youths who resisted British colonialism and Jewish immigration in 1930 AD, such as Muhammad Jamjoom, and Fouad Hegazy, and Atta Al-Zir, and later the castle was converted into a mental hospital. Today, the prison is one of the prominent archaeological sites in the city, and many interesting tours are organized there.
