St. Stephen's Basilica was built on the ruins of an old hilltop cathedral in the town of Motofen. The present church was built between 1580 and 1614 according to designs by the famous Venetian architect Andrea Palladio. The church was subsequently renovated during the century eighteenth century, which resulted in its present form. The church has a beautiful interior design, where many decorations and paintings adorn its walls.
