The village of Motofen is located in the center of Istria, high among the hills surrounded by olive fields and rare truffle forests. The village is characterized by its small size and is inhabited by only about 500 people. The village offers a wonderful view of the valleys of the Mirna River and is a destination for tourists annually for rest and recreation. A Romanesque Gothic bell tower with a pointed crown from the 13th century dominates the historic heart of the city and next to it is the 17th century Saint Stephen's Parish Church. In the central square is the Municipal Roman Palace, the largest secular building in Istria of the period, surrounded by many other historical buildings. In the village you will find a few galleries and souvenir shops offering local products, a few cafes and restaurants, and only one hotel.
