Chiah Kongsi Temple is the first of the five great Hokkien clan homes on Penang Island, located in the adjacent building of Kho Kongsi Temple. This ornate building is the only clan house on the island that incorporates traditional Malaysian, Chinese and European design, and is the first thing visitors see when visiting it. It is columns topped with lion head statues in the British style that support a large balcony, as well as a ceiling decorated with distinctive Chinese and Dutch porcelain and some stucco carvings of dogs and lions.
