Penang Island is nicknamed the “Pearl of the Orient”, and it is listed among the UNESCO Natural Heritage Sites, and includes many beaches with fine sand that attract tourists and locals to spend special holidays inside, and among the best natural, historical and religious places belonging to it are the beaches of Tanjung Bunga, Penang Hill Peak, Snake Temple and Garden Spice, the colonial Cornwallis Fort, the Indian-style Kapitan Keeling Mosque and the Hindu Sri Mahamariman Temple. The island is also equipped to receive tourists through many hotels and chalets of different levels, as well as a wide variety of restaurants and cafes serving local and international delicacies.
