The Tan Quay is one of the Six Chinese Clan Docks in Georgetown. It is the third clan wharf from the north. It is located between the Qiu Quay and Li Quay. It includes the members of the Tan clan, whose ancestors were Chinese immigrants who came from Ping Zhuxi Village in China to work in the expansion of Penang Port. It was created to house rangers who could not afford to live on dry land mostly owned by Europeans or Chinese.
