Information about Cendere Bridge
This well-preserved Roman bridge crosses the Cendere (Old Chabinas River) at a point where the river exits an impressive gorge in the wide Qahta Valley. It was built between 198 and 200 AD by a Roman general stationed at Samsat (Ancient Samosata) and is dedicated to Septimius Severus, his wife Julia Domna, and their sons Caracalla and Geta. According to an inscription, the building was financed by four Commagene cities.
