Wiennec Castle is located northwest of the village of Katzental in France. This region is also known as Southern Alsace. It was built around 1200, and in 1251 it was somehow linked to the city of Strasbourg by its owner Ulrich de Ferrette. It is located on a small hill high 330 meters full of vineyards that are used to make wine, and visitors go to explore the castle from the outside because visitors are not allowed to enter it.
