The emblem of Perpignan, Le Castellet, is the gateway to the old city, with its red brick and Pexas marble structure of the Aragonese period, built in 1368, then furnished by Louis XI with a brick veranda and tower The red one is topped by a dome, and during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the building became a prison, and currently houses the Joseph DeLuncle Museum for the History of Northern Catalonia.
