Canalegas Park is one of the most famous and most visited parks in Alicante, due to its proximity to the port and its extension parallel to Marina Deportiva and its joining the famous Esplanada de Espana promenade. The park also includes an impressive group of giant fig trees that provide shade and tranquility for visitors at any time of the day. Canalegas is the oldest park in the city and has maintained its appearance with the same perennial fig trees that reach 20 meters in height and have long thick branches resembling elephant trunks. The only addition to the park is a children's play area and some outdoor sports facilities, allowing adults and children alike. Both make the most of this shaded area in the summer heat.
