The Canalejas Monument consists of an intricate sculptural ensemble that is architecturally designed with a four-cornered needle-shaped base and column crowned with a free-standing sculpture surrounded by unique reliefs. A lion on a circular shield with the emblems of "Leon", "Castella", "Aragon" and "Navarra", and there are two reliefs on the sides, one titled "Sewage" where a woman and two children are represented symbolizing the improvements of the city, the other inscription is titled "Trade" contains pseudonyms for commercial activity in the city as well as a description of the works carried out to improve the port of Alicante.
