Information about Basilica y Convento de San Francisco
After this church was rebuilt several times, the current church and the small basilica of San Francisco Monastery (San Francisco) were completed between 1789 AD and 1796 AD, however, the tower was built some time later, specifically in 187 AD. Fray Luis Giorgi, the bishop of the church, was keen to bring the most skilled Italian architects and builders to build the monastery in the best shape and highest quality. The height of the church is 57 meters, making it one of the tallest churches on the American continent. It contains many statues, pictures, decorations, some furniture, wands, and others. It is a wonderful place and a tourist attraction worth visiting.
