Over the past years, the Aachen Zoo has developed into one of the most popular recreational facilities in the region, and includes about 1000 animals of 200 species and breeds in spacious cages on an area of about 8.9 hectares, and there is a large variety of animals ranging from small exotic birds, to donkeys. Wildebeest, antelope, ostrich, Asian camel, etc., and some native species can also be found. This park offers plenty of opportunities to spend a great day away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and children especially can have fun riding a pony, visiting a petting farm or going to one of the big playgrounds.
