Washington, DC, is a small city located on the Potomac River on the border of Maryland and Virginia. Washington is the most important American city. It is the main center of government and includes the three branches of the federal government: the Capitol, the White House, and the Supreme Court. Besides its political importance, it is famous for being the home of famous museums and performing arts venues such as the Smithsonian Institution Museums which includes the Museum of the American Indians and the Zoological Museum, the International Espionage Museum that provides an overview of the most prominent and important spies known around the world, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Washington DC includes a number of nature reserves, the most important of which are Olympic, North Cascades Reserve, and Mount Rainey Reserve, which reaches an altitude of approximately 4,400 meters. Its mountainous nature provides visitors with the opportunity to wander and hike, as well as the opportunity to undertake interesting adventures.
