Schmallenberg is a town and climatic health resort in the High Sauerland region of Germany. By area, it is the third largest city and town in North Rhine-Westphalia and the second largest in the state of Westphalia. With a small town in the middle of Schmallenberg and the health resort of Bad Fredeburg Kneipp in the countryside, the city has two urban centers as well as 82 villages belonging to the town's territory. The city of Schmallenberg Sauerland is also known as "Schmallenberg Sauerland" and is famous for its health resorts, as it won gold for the beauty of its regions in a competition held at the level of Germany. Many annual festivals and competitions are also held in the city.
