Osijek is the fourth largest city in Croatia with a population of 120 thousand people. It is the largest city and the economic and cultural center of Croatia's eastern Slavonia region, as well as the administrative center of Osijek-Baranja County. Osijek lies on the right bank of the Drava, 25 km (16 mi) at its confluence with the Danube, at an elevation of 94 meters (308 ft). The city is considered the semi-official gastronomy capital of Croatia and is very popular for its fish, meat and other dishes. The city's climate is warm in the summer, so it is recommended to visit it in the summer.
