Mahdia is a Tunisian coastal city with indigenous traditions, where women wear gold jewelry, houses are decorated with carpets and embroidered curtains, and its huge gate reminds of its glorious past. It is also known for its fishing, silk weaving and olive industries. Mahdia is located between Sousse and Sfax, and it is one of the most beautiful cities in Tunisia, as it extends on a peninsula surrounded by stunning blue waters, and its luxurious beaches attract large numbers of tourists, and it includes many attractions. Historic sites, including the ruins of an ancient Punic city, the Fatimid port, the first Fatimid mosque (built in the 10th century), and an Ottoman fortress from the 16th century.
