The city of Carthage is one of the most important Tunisian archaeological sites registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979, and there are landmarks that testify to the various historical eras that Tunisia has gone through. The amazing ones include the Baths of Antoninus, the Roman Houses Quarter, the Odeon, the Damon Church of Carbazza, the Roman Theater of Carthage, and many more. There are also many historical museums in the city that explain the history of the city in detail. Heads of state have resided in this city since the twentieth century, a tradition that Habib Bourguiba began when the presidential palace was built in the Andalusian style in the city. This city is about 15 km away from Tunis, and the city is characterized by its beautiful temperate climate, and is frequented by nearly one million tourists every year.
