Byblos is a tourist city 40 km north of Beirut. It is a city that combines the past and the present. It is a modern city, but it still retains its historical past at the same time. There are many tourist places in the city such as castles, Baptist churches, mosques and ancient Phoenician temples. Among the most important landmarks worth visiting in the city are museums such as the Byblos Museum of Fossils, where there is a wide range of fossilized fish and episodes of different marine life, and the Wax Museum, which is famous for displaying wax statues of characters from the Phoenician era. The city is very famous for its markets, which are distinguished by their architecture and cobbled streets, and there are many shops, antiques and souvenir shops. One of the activities that can be done in the city is to attend the Byblos International Festival, a music festival that takes place every summer in the historical district of the city.
