Lapland is located in the far north of Finland, on the borders with Sweden, Norway, Russia, and the Baltic Sea. This region is famous for its extensive wildlife, distinctive ski resorts, and natural phenomena, including the midnight sun and the northern lights phenomenon, or as it is known as the aurora borealis. Its capital, Rovaniemi, is the gateway to the region, and the homeland of the indigenous Sámi people, which extends to neighboring countries, is centered in the far north. Lapland is a sparsely populated region with a population of only 179,223 people, so it is considered an ideal area for those who love tranquility, relaxation, and outdoor adventures. It is home to many lakes, forests, and wooden lodges. Lapland is known as a winter wonderland, due to its variety of glacial activities and unique adventures. It is also called European Alaska. It is also distinguished by containing a group of landmarks related to the indigenous people of the region.
