Keserwan-Jbeil Governorate is located on the Mediterranean Sea. It is considered one of the oldest cities in the world, and one of the few cities that has remained inhabited since its establishment to this day. It was chosen as the capital of Arab tourism in 2016 AD. Its capital is the city of Jbeil, which is located on the Lebanese coast north of the capital, Beirut, and is about 37 kilometers away from it. The governorate includes multiple archaeological and tourist attractions distributed throughout its various cities, making it one of the most prominent tourist destinations on the Mediterranean coast, including the historic Byblos Castle, which was built by the Crusaders in 1204 AD, and today there is a museum in which various artifacts are displayed. Among the famous tourist attractions in the heart of its capital are the historic port on the sea, in addition to the remains of the wall that surrounded the city of Byblos in the Middle Ages, the Byblos Castle built by the Crusaders, and the historic Byblos Mosque, which is one of the oldest mosques in Lebanon.
